The Gastonia Honey Hunters are an independent baseball team playing in the American League of Professional Baseball. They play at CaroMont Health Park, a multi-purpose stadium, which opened in 2021. It is part of a 16-acre downtown redevelopment plan known as the Franklin Urban Sports and Entertainment (FUSE) District. The new ballpark was designed to accommodate a variety of other events, including concerts, soccer, lacrosse, and football with an artificial turf surface and a capacity of 5,000. "Honey Hunters" refers to the toughness of a honey badger and the ability to seek out positive things in hard times. The moniker also alludes to Ransom Hunter, the first freed slave to own property in Gaston County, of which Gastonia is the county seat. The Honey Hunters were playing the High Point Rockers losing 6-3. The Box score was Rockers R-6, H-8, E-1 and Honey Hunters R-3, H-11, E-1. The field lines are RF-325', RCF-367', CF-400', LCF-361', LF-315'. The bottom of the 5th the Honey Hunters scored one run on a bases loaded walk. Top of the 6th the Rockers had a Grand Slam. The temperature in the sun on the thermometer in front of the stadium was 100 degrees at 5:35pm. It cooled as the game progressed and was comfortable. There are suites on the 2nd level behind Home Plate. Several different party areas. The broadcast area is on the main concourse level on the 3rd base side just to the right of Home Plate. The bullpens are down the baselines. You can walk around the park. There is a very deep foul ball area on both baselines. The advertising on the outfield wall is all yellow printing on a green wall. The parking lot beyond left field is for season ticket holders. There is a train track beyond the parking lot. The scoreboard shows the highest level that each player played previously. Keven Santa previously played as high as the Mariners AAA Tacoma team. I couldn't see a pitch speed indicator. There are five rows of seating below the oncourse level. There is barstool, of various heights, seating on the concourse level. It was Tails R Waggin' pets night. One mid-inning activity was hit the water balloon. The mascot is Bam. I talked with several of the staff and was announced as a visitor. Ks are posted above the seats on the 1st base side. The full moon rose behind the 1st baseline in the bottom of the 9th.
