The Burlington Indians, an Appalachian Rookie League affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, play at Burlington Athletic Stadium built 1958 seating 3,500. The covered grandstand was moved here from Danville, VA in 1960. The weather was threatening, but they were successful in getting in a double header because they were rained out the previous evening. We watched the first one when the Indians clobbered the Bristol Sox 15-1. The box score was Sox R-1, H-3, E-5 and Indians R-15, H-12, E-3. The field lines are RF & LF-335' and CF-403'. The Indians lost the second game 3-1. The game started before 5pm and was done early enough that we left to find a restaurant to eat. Since it was an early game there weren't many people attending. As we were leaving more were coming in for the second game. We didn't see Bingo the mascot. In 2001 the fan voted for the All Time Burlington Team. Richie Sexson who is now playing for our Seattle Mariners was one of their selections. 2007 affiliated with the Kansas City Royals with name change to the Burlington Royals and new logo.
