The St. Paul Saints, a member of the independent American Association, play at Midway Stadium which was built in 1982 and seats 6,069. It is a concrete uncovered stadium owned by the city and also used for high school baseball. It has been all painted over on the outside with colorful baseball scenes. There are flower boxes all around on all horizontal surfaces. All seats are aluminum bleachers, with backs in the main stadium area between the infield and backless bleachers in two sections on the end of each baseline. There are three party areas in left field, one is the Good Ship Pork Chop. The pressbox is behind the seating behind homeplate There is a nice electronic scoreboard with easily readable red numbers. They were playing the Lincoln Saltdogs. It was a slugfest with the Saints winning 17 to 8. The box score was Saltdogs R-8, H-9, E-1 and Saints R-17, H-20, E-0. The field lines are RF-320', CF-400', and LF-320'. The game started and with 2 outs in the bottom of the 1st a rainstorm moved through the park. The tarp was put on the field and after a 45 minute rain delay the game resumed. The game started at 1:08pm and ended at 5:01pm.The game announcers are located on the top of the 3rd base dugout. The mascot is Mudonna. Kim Lardashian is a pig who takes baseballs to the homeplate umpire. Girt the Flirt is one of the crowd cheer leaders at the Saints. She is quite happy to put a big red lipstick kiss on a guy's cheek or give you a tap on the backside with her air-filled baseball bat. Yours truely received a tap as I was walking away. I think there was a between inning activity at every inning break. One activity was throwing wate rballon from the top of the dugout and trying to get them in the bowl that the field partner was wearing. Three children drove their cars around the obstacles and through the castle door in the White Castle race. Two teams carried a victim on a stretcher. There was an ear, nose, and throat race for a local doctor. Trains passed by on a track beyond left field with a shout by the fans of "Train" each time one went by. In the main parking lot is a large tail gate party before each game and this was an afternoon game. A new stadium, Lower Downtown Park, is being built downtown and will open in 2015
