Philadelphia Phillies Clearwater FL
Spectrum Field in Clearwater, FL is the spring training ballfield for the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies Florida State A League Clearwater Threshers play here during the regular season. The stadium was built in 2004 and seats 8,500 people with additional grass berm seating for 1,500. The Phillies were playing the Pittsburgh Pirates in the last game of spring training. At the end of the 9th the game was tied 5-5. For spring training if the game is tied at the end of the ninth it can be stopped. The fans had been warned earlier that this could happen and since it was the last game that is what occurred. The teams have one day off before starting the season, so they wanted to go to that location. Pittsburgh tied the game in the top of the 9th with a homerun. The box score was Pirates R-5, H-12, E-1 Phillies R-5, H-9, E-1. The field lines are RF-330, CF-410, LF-329. Jake Arrieta, the Phillies starter, gave up a 3 run plus another run in the top of the 1st. The Phillies fans were not very happy about this as he had just signed a 3 year $75 million dollar contract. Joey Cora is the Pirates 3rd base coach. He played for the Mariners and is a favorite of ours. The Pfanatic is the Phillies mascot and one of the best mascots in the major leagues. This is a nice stadium with suites at the end of the 3rd baseline and some on the 1st baseline upper level. The bullpens are in left field and the berm is in center field. Shade can be found on the 1st base side to behind homeplate Row 13 and back. The broadcast booths are on the 2nd level on the erd base side.
